A Pennsylvania charter bus company crashed Monday morning on I-95 in Maryland, injuring 26 Philadelphia school children and four adults.

One adult and a child were transported by helicopter to hospitals, police said.

The release said that everyone on the bus had been accounted for and all parents had been contacted.

The Charles W. Henry School will remain open all night and serve as the "reunification" center for crash victims and their families.

We will be updating this story throughout the day.

The driver of the passenger vehicle from Maryland refused medical treatment at the scene, police said.

According to local fire officials, the children and chaperones were part of a caravan of buses heading from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C., for today's law enforcement officers' memorial service.

The Susquehanna Hose Company tweeted that more than 25 people were injured.

The police department said the cause of the accident is so far unclear and added the investigation into the crash continues.

The accident happened about 9:30 a.m. ET on I-95 South near Cecil County about 40 miles north of Baltimore. There's damage to the hill and a stretch of guardrail on the right side of the highway, where the bus rested on the guardrail. "Wonderful, wonderful help. They were assisting in patient care and I believe they got everyone out", said Peter Quackenbush, chief of the Havre de Grace Ambulance Corps. At least two other buses and several cars were stopped near the overturned white bus with no apparent markings. According to our media partners at The Baltimore Sun, the bus was operated by Werner Coach, which is based in Pennsylvania.
