Golden State Warriors Defeat Utah Jazz In Sloppy Game 3

Warriors want to 'destroy everything' and limit Jazz rallies

The Golden State Warriors looked mortal for the first time in this playoff run in Game 3. They didn't slow them down much in the third, but they kept the game close enough to not be too anxious about it. Curry struggled with shooting, but with around three minutes left in the third, he brought the team within one point of the Jazz. All five starters scored in double figures for Utah, but it wasn't enough to overcome a fourth-quarter surge by the Warriors.

Hill is being plagued by soreness in his left big toe that forced him to miss Thursday's 115-104 loss to Golden State. The Utah Jazz have won 10 of their last 13 home games.

Sorry to break it to you Jazz fans, the Warriors won't blow this series lead and will probably complete the sweep.

Utah took a 50-49 lead into halftime after closing the second quarter on a 12-5 run highlighted by Rodney Hood's 3-pointer triple that gave the Jazz their first lead of the series at 48-47.

Although Durant averaged the fewest amount of points per game this year since his rookie season, he recorded the highest field goal percentage of his career this year with the Warriors (53.7%). Utah shot just 39 percent as a team, and if you take Hayward and Gobert out of the equation the rest of the Jazz shot 31.4 percent.

Durant was spectacular tonight, scoring 38 points on 15-for-26 shooting, with 13 rebounds, leading the Warriors to a 3-0 series lead over the Jazz. It was not just his scoring total that stood out, but rather how he got to that total. On a night Curry and Thompson were cold, in one of the most hostile environments he had seen all season, Durant owned Utah on the pick-and-roll all game. Kevin Durant had 25 points with 11 rebounds and seven assists.

It didn't matter. Durant did exactly what the Warriors expected him to do when they inked him to a two-year, $54 million deal last summer. This was because of the 22 first half points Durant dropped to keep Golden State alive. Never seeming to do the one needed on the given play - but he would still finish the game with 11 points off of 11 shots, and have 5 assists to 3 turn overs. Warriors guard Stephen Curry said. Curry made just four of his 18 shots through three-quarters including a disastrous 1-of-9 mark from deep. Curry and Durant had a chance to relax and have some fun in a press conference for once with the conference finals feeling almost inevitable at this point. However, down the stretch, back-to-back 3-pointers by Curry and Durant with three minutes left gave the Warriors an out-of-reach eight-point advantage. He also deserves a lot of credit for not turning the ball over once all night.

What they couldn't do was stop Durant. Aside from his incredible statistical performance, we saw some aggressiveness and tenaciousness from Durant, especially towards Rudy Gobert.

How do you beat the Golden State Warriors? If Kevin Durant had not gone insane from mid-range (the exact type of shot that any team should be happy to surrender to the Warriors), then this game probably would have swung Utah's way.

In the aftermath, acting coach Mike Brown sprinted on the court to separate Durant and told him: "Hey, we got one more game". Game 4 is Monday in Utah. He attempted to warm up before Game 3 on Friday before the determination was made that he could not play.

They likely took offense to the fact that the Warriors reportedly complained about the lack of night life in Salt Lake City.

With the exception of Gordon Hayward, and Rudy Gobert to a smaller degree, the Jazz have struggled offensively as open looks have been hard to come by in the series.
