Parker County Mother Charged in Deaths of Children Found in Hot Car

Temperatures hovered around 96 degrees that day, reported NBC Dallas-Fort Worth.

Sixteen-month-old Cavanaugh Ramirez and two-year-old Juliet Ramirez were found dead in a sedan. She said about 20 to 30 minutes had passed when she realized her kids were "gone".

It happened May 26 in Parker County when the mother found her children playing inside the auto, according to the Parker County Sheriff's Office.

Emergency medical personnel was contacted.

Both kids were pronounced dead at about 4:30 p.m., according to FOX4. Randolph's immediate response was, "no more than an hour".

But she changed her story over the course of several police interviews, finally admitting on Saturday (local time) she left them in the vehicle intentionally.

When Randolph was arrested this Friday, she told a completely different tale.

After searching for them for more than half an hour, she said, she found them locked in a small four-door vehicle on the property.

The 25-year-old told investigators she'd been trying to teach her two-year-old daughter a lesson when she refused to come out of the vehicle when she was called.

Randolph said she went back into the house, smoked marijuana and took a nap for two or three hours, the complaint states. Even though, my mom could be completely nuts, she would never try to teach my brother and I a lesson by leaving us defenseless in a hot locked vehicle.

Fowler said that any incidents involving any child are hard ones, but this call was especially heartbreaking because of the unfortunate deaths of the two children.

Sheriff Fowler said on June 23 that he is satisfied with the arrest of Randolph.

Police on Friday arrested Cynthia Marie Randolph on two felony counts of first-degree injury to a child causing serious bodily injury, CBS DFW reports.

She was booked into the Parker County Jail.

No bond has been set yet in her case.
