Linfield will play Celtic if they see off San Marino champions

Linfield could face Celtic

Linfield have been drawn to face La Fiorita of San Marino in the first round of the competition but if they get through that then the Irish League champions are now scheduled to face the Scottish club on either July 11th or 12th.

Irish Premiership champions Linfield were drawn to play the home leg first on July 11/12 but due to the traditional Orange Order marches in Northern Ireland on July 12, that day has been ruled out.

The return leg would take place in Glasgow the following week.

"Celtic are relaxed about it and they seem happy enough to play in Belfast on July 11".

Those games would take place on July 13th and 20th.

It means the Scottish champs could face Linfield, a club with close links to their arch rivals Rangers.

A further complication for the clubs, UEFA and local police is the potential date of the first leg, should Linfield progress.

But above all, Celtic's first priority will be to keep hold of their existing star players.

Celtic's first-team squad returned for pre-season training on Monday and will play their first friendly against Austrian side BW Linz on June 28.

It's good to see that he's not taking his eye off the ball considering that Linfield have to get through the first round first, but it would have been madness not to try and sort this out well in advance.

"If they want to go up a level in the Champions League they must also look to add some quality". Being realistic, I don't think there would be any chance of us beating them.
