Mark Ruffalo Sizes Up Chances of a Standalone 'Hulk' Movie: It 'Will Never Happen'
Ruffalo will next appear as the character in Thor: Ragnarok due out this November 3.
Ever since he took over the role in 2010, ahead of The Avengers, Ruffalo has been very vocal about his desire to make a solo Hulk film, of course, he's also been very honest regarding the rights issues and how they've made it hard for Marvel Studios to release a sequel to 2008's The Incredible Hulk. Following the panel, Mark Ruffalo spoke with Fandango's Erik Davis, who teased a little bit of what they talked about on Twitter. The reason is that apparently Universal still holds some of the Hulk solo movie rights, and unlike Sony with Spider-Man, they're not interested in making a deal. Cheadle, however, was quick to point out that if the corporations wanted to work something out, they could find a way, so it must be Ruffalo that they have an issue with.
So come on, Universal and Marvel.
Mark Ruffalo just Hulk-smashed our superhero movie dreams - but it's not his fault, he says. "A stand-alone Hulk movie will never happen". And I don't know if it will be.
"I want to make one thing perfectly clear today", Ruffalo said. Two years ago, he said that he has four movies coming up. The footage that was shown at D23 from Avengers: Infinity War hasn't made its way online yet, but based on the descriptions of the footage, it doesn't sound like it gives us any clues as to what Bruce Banner is up to.
Ruffalo was on hand at D23 Expo along with a majority of the Marvel Cinematic Universe cast to promote Avengers: Infinity War ahead of the debut of the first teaser trailer.
