2 cops injured during search operation in Kashmir

Militants injured two policemen and an army jawan in firing after the security forces launched a search operation at Hajin area of north Kashmir's Bandipora district on Sunday morning. The injured soldier was identified as Sepoy Raj Kumar of Hajin based 13 RR.

A joint team of army's 13 RR and SOG cordoned off Wahabpora area of Hajin following inputs about the presence of some militants, a police official told news agency GNS.

The injured cops have been taken to a hospital for treatment, the official said, adding the cordon and search operation is going on in the area. The reports, however, disclosed that the militants managed to escape from the area after 45 minutes encounter.

He said the search operation has been called off.
