In announcing the cancellations, numerous groups cited the controversy surrounding Trump's recent comments that "both sides were to blame" for the violence that occurred during a white supremacists' rally in Charlottesville, Va.

"We are not a political organization and do not condone hatred or bullying on any level as our kids have dealt with the pain of being called different on a very personal level", the statement reads.

A top-tier charity gala at President Trump's private Mar-a-Lago club can cost a group $275,000, the Washington Post revealed. Trump's comments were so controversial that CEOs began to abandon his business councils, causing Trump to disband them, and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle rushed to denounce his comments and issue their own rebukes of racism and other types of discrimination.

The Unicorn Children's Foundation is a 22-year-old nonprofit focused on creating innovative programs and services to help children with disabilities.

Organizations continue to pull their events from President Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort after his defense last week of white nationalist, KKK, and neo-Nazi groups.

"It would be a disservice to our supporters and our children to hold our event at Mar-a-Lago".

American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, the American Cancer Society, American Friends of Magen David Adom, Leaders in Furthering Education, the Palm Beach Zoo, the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach, the Susan G. Komen breast cancer charity, the Autism Project of Palm Beach County, and Gateway for Cancer Research.

Sharon Alexander, executive director of the Unicorn Children's Foundation, an global nonprofit focused on special needs children, issued a statement on the foundation's decision to cancel a fashion show luncheon at Trump's property.

Previously, 12 other charities had pulled out of plans to hold nighttime galas or dinner events at Mar-a-Lago, and five others had canceled plans for luncheons.

"Gateway for Cancer Research has made a decision to withdraw from Mar-a-Lago as a venue for its March 2018 St. Patrick's Day event", reads a statement released to a Post reporter late Tuesday. "The organization has appreciated the generous support and commitment of the Palm Beach community to its mission".

"We were nearly bullied by individuals", she said.
