State Capture: The Guptas Feel They Are Targeted – Part 3

It said the charges were aimed at the four specifically because they were at the heart of the state capture scandals that have gripped the country.

Duduzile Zuma, the twin sister of Duduzane and the President's daughter, who spent 13 months as a director of a Gupta company, appointed when it was clear her father would soon be President.

The charges were laid at Randburg Police Station, and are backed by an affidavit detailing the allegations by Outa chief operating officer Ben Theron.

Zuma has close business ties with the Gupta family and OUTA believes together they benefited through "illegitimate deals" with the help of a number of state officials. Indeed, not only have they submitted sworn affidavits to the contrary, but they say the media is in the hands of a "white monopoly capital", which is hell-bent on tarnishing their name, along with a few old white families who ensure their business is stymied at every turn. They include Zuma's wife Bongi Ngema-Zuma, former Eskom CEO Brian Molefe and Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane.

"The Guptas benefitted from numerous high-value deals including getting the enormous R5.3bn kickback from Transnet's locomotive deal and a R66m kickback from Neotel arising from a Transnet deal", Theron said in the statement.

He also questioned the authenticity of the Gupta leaked emails.
