Jim Acosta Attacks Trump, Blaming Him for Deadly Events in Charlottesville

President Donald Trump condemned "in the strongest possible terms" what he called an "egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides" after a vehicle plowed into a crowd of people peacefully protesting a white supremacist rally in downtown Charlottesville this afternoon, killing one and sending at least 26 others to hospitals.

And, like Trump, he pointed to both sides for the chaos that unfolded.

"Old saying: when you dance with the devil, the devil doesn't change, the devil changes you", Signer said.

At least 1 is dead and 16 have been injured when an unidentified man-believed to be one of the white supremacists-plowed into a crowd of leftwingers.

President Trump also said that people should unite, bearing in mind that they "are all Americans first".

"We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides", Trump said.

He added: "It's been going on for a long time in our country".

"We're closely following the awful events unfolding in Charlottesville, Virginia", Mr. Trump said. "This has been going on for a long, long time".

Trump is calling for "a swift restoration of law and order and the protection of innocent lives". When asked to condemn, he just walked out of the room.

Acosta seemed to ignore the fact that nearly 63 million people voted for Donald Trump and unless he wants to condemn them as white supremacists, he's not interested in unifying the country.

Trump didn't single out any group, but blamed "many sides" for the violence.

Many others were just locals caught in the fray.

Following Trump's comment, several Republicans pushed for a more explicit denunciation of white supremacists. "Their cause is hate, it is un-American, they are domestic terrorists and we need more from our president". Marco Rubio, wrote: "Nothing patriotic about #Nazis, the #KKK or #WhiteSupremacists It's the direct opposite of what #America seeks to be". "Call this white supremacism, this white nationalism evil, and let the country hear it, let the world hear it. Everyone in leadership must speak out". The protests began as a response to the removal of a statute of confederate General Robert E. Lee from a public park. "There was violence between protesters and counter protesters today". A few hours after violent encounters between the two groups, a auto drove into a crowd of people peacefully protesting the rally. Police said the helicopter was helping to monitor the rally in Charlottesville.

Former Klan Imperial Wizard David Duke attended the rally as well as other prominent white nationalist leaders.

Pressed again on why Trump had not spoken out against white supremacy, Gardner demurred, saying "If he doesn't do that, then we can continue to answer the question of why". "The attacks we are witnessing in Charlottesville are completely unacceptable and must not be allowed to continue", Feinstein said.

"GLAAD and countless LGBTQ Americans stand firmly together with other marginalized communities to denounce these disgusting threats and cowardly fear tactics", Ellis told Variety.
