Vikings RB Sankey suffers season-ending knee injury

Sankey had four carries for 14 yards and reeled in four passes for 15 yards before exiting early in the third quarter of Thursday's preseason opener versus the Buffalo Bills.

Sankey was listed third on the team's official depth chart behind rookie Dalvin Cook and Jerick McKinnon.

Hill had worked out along with former University of Minnesota running back David Cobb, and the Vikings went with Hill.

Sankey underwent an MRI for his knee on Friday and the results were not what the running back was hoping for.

The news is a tough blow for a guy who has been struggling to make it in the National Football League since getting drafted in the second round by the Tennessee Titans back in 2014. He joined Minnesota's practice squad late last season. Undrafted out of Eastern Michigan in 2015, Hill is joining his sixth National Football League team. If not, Minnesota would likely have to agree on an injury settlement with Sankey prior to the team releasing him.
