Following a string of low scores, Yuvraj Singh was on Sunday dropped from the India squad for the upcoming five-match one-day worldwide series and one-off T20I against Sri Lanka, starting August 20.

The same squad will represent India in the one-off T20I that follows the ODI series.

Mumbai paceman Shardul Thakur made a comeback into the squad alongwith Karnataka batsman Manish Pandey. However, he will vie for a spot with Pandey, Rahul and Kedar Jadhav.

Yuvraj was part of the team during the tour of West Indies last month, but missed out after playing the first three ODIs, due to an injury. Axar, 23, is already in Sri Lanka with the Test team, as replacement for the suspended Jadeja.

An uncapped Shardul Thakur has also been drafted into the side, who will hope to make his ODI debut in the upcoming series. In four matches, he claimed four wickets and a fine economy rate of 4.37.

Openers KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah are back in the Indian ODI and T20I squad that will take on take on Sri Lanka in a five-match ODI series that begins on August 20 at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla.

Wicket-keeper batsmen Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik have also been dropped from the limited-overs squad that toured West Indies. The final of Champions Trophy exposed India's slow bowling frailties. India's tour of Sri Lanka will conclude with second Twenty20 in Colombo on September 6.
