"I've got no concerns at all about Chelsea who were immaculate as they were in the summer, absolutely immaculate", he said.

Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson has reported Chelsea to the Football Association and local police over suspicions of fraud regarding the purchase of Ross Barkley.

Possibly the biggest news that came out of this signing is that the English international adopted the iconic number 8 shirt, one famous for being worn for years by Frank Lampard. When talking about filling big boots, they don't come much bigger, but Barkley is far from a shrinking violet.

He made his debut in Everton's first home match of the season in the 2011/12 campaign and stood out as man of the match.

The Wavertree-born midfielder was in the final six months of his existing contract at Goodison Park contract and continually rejected offers of an improved deal. What he fails to understand, however, is that football is no normal business and it is capable of operating at a legal and moral level wholly without precedent in the modern world.

"At worst, it could be seen as a deliberate attempt to drive down a player's value in the transfer market so as to benefit the player, his agent and the buying club". The Premier League champions declined to comment on the size of the commission or Anderson's accusations when contacted by ESPN FC.

He suggested that the circumstances surrounding the transfer warrant "serious investigation", adding that "there seems to be at least a public perception that collusion has taken place". Both central midfielders with an eye for joining the attacking line whenever they can with fantastic offensive movement. He said 'You need to get Ronald Koeman' and we got Koeman.

While that isn't in the league of the sorts of fees that Mino Raiola and Jorge Mendes receive for their players, it is almost 50% of the fee Chelsea paid Everton for the player.

It beggars belief, so much so that the likes of the Liverpool Major - quite understandably - have nowhere left to turn.
