Gullit warns Conte he faces Chelsea sack ahead of Barcelona challenge

Willian smashed Chelsea into the lead with a fabulous individual effort that set the Blues onto a hard-fought but ultimately successful 2-1 win over relegation-haunted Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge this evening.

Willian's low shot gave Chelsea the lead after 25 minutes before Martin Kelly's own goal doubled their advantage. He's playing very well with the ball, without the ball.

He also played up front against Barca, but was deployed in his more familiar role roaming from the left flank here.

Brazilian forward Willian picked up the ball on the left, cut inside and fired it along the ground, taking a deflection on the way past a diving Wayne Hennessey and in off the post in the 25th minute.

To that end Conte will have been grateful to recall N'Golo Kanté, missing from defeat at Manchester City last week after fainting during a training session.

Morata has failed to find the back of the net since Boxing Day 2017 and Antonio Conte appears to be losing patience in the former Real Madrid man.

He has scored five goals in five games, the best run of his Chelsea career, which is timely ahead of Wednesday's Champions League last 16, second leg match in Barcelona. Again Willian was the danger, forcing a save from Hennessey with a direct free kick, then - in the same passage of play - producing two crosses that first Zappacosta then Giroud should have turned home. He was understudy to Hazard in 2015, when they won the Premier League title under Jose Mourinho, and against under Conte last year.

"When you have so many chances it's important to be clinical and to try to finish the game quickly".

"We have to show great resilience". The ball came off his right post but it was unerringly accurate in its delivery.

For 90 minutes Chelsea were cruising to three comfortable points.

Hodgson said: "The level of commitment wasn't good enough in the first half".

A win would put Chelsea four points short of Liverpool and two behind Tottenham, who sit in fourth place and play on Sunday. - Willian has now scored 13 goals for Chelsea in all competitions this season - his best return in a single campaign for the club. We have to try to have the same focus, the same attention as the first leg against Barcelona.

"I don't know Morata and I wouldn't want to question his injuries but perhaps he needs to change his mindset".
